I get asked this question so many times by upcoming coaches and even colleagues so I have decided to share this article as a pointer to what you need to do.
Ultimately, your brand authority helps in accelerating your business growth as you are able to build strong relationships both with prospects and existing customers. I will therefore categorize building your brand authority into these 4 winning strategies.

First decide, what do you want to be an authority in?
You will definitely have several options especially if you are an expert with a considerable years of experience But trust me, you can’t be everything and anything.
Questions to ask yourself are
- What do want to be known for?
- What are your strengths?
- What do you have a passion for?
- What are your weaknesses/those things if you had an option, you will rather not do them
The second thing to do is to critically analyze your environment vis-à-vis the needs of your audience
That is if you have taken time to identify your audience. There are a few questions to ask yourself:
- What opportunities can you see around you that you can easily leverage on?
- Are there any threats you should be wary of?
- Who are your target audience
- What are their needs?
- What solutions can you propose to them? What can you help them with?
- Think of narrowing down your offering as against making it too broad
- Remember the ever present 5 Ws and H(Why,Who, What, Where, When and How)- This is a tool that can be applied practically in every profession and industry
A third thing to note is to promote credible information sources:
Start associating with those who have walked the road before you but are trusted. Do not become a me too, but carve your own personality strategically and distinctively. Refer to experts and credible information sources, it also shows you read and you know what? a reader always remains a leader
You could also invest in paid publicity as you carry on in building your personal brand. Please understand that you must remain persistent and consistent, Keep at it and you will eventually see results Quality, persistent and consistent quality delivery is not a one-off , it is an on-going investment from which you can reap huge benefits
The last thing is patience:
You know, good ideas take time to ripen. As one of our proverbs in Africa, The birth circle of an elephant is quite different from that of a rabbit.
