Five Important Tips Needed When Preparing Ahead For A Meeting.

Preparing for a meeting is one of the easiest ways to fail as a salesperson. Showing up to a prospect’s office without appropriate preparation can cause you to lose the dream contract. Forgetting your personal cards, not setting priorities for meetings ahead can make the meeting not go as planned.

While these actions may seem difficult, here are some essential steps to follow to make it look less easy.

Reconfirm The Meeting with A New Mail

The fact that you have the meeting on your calendar doesn’t mean your prospects also have it on their calendar. This sound incredibly simple and it is. Everyone is really busy these days and we might forget there is a meeting to attend. To avoid miscommunication, send your prospects a short reminder mail.

Put Together Materials Needed For The Meeting

Preparation breeds perfection. Prepare for the meeting like you are going for a war. Every document needed for the meeting must be well arranged. Your business card should also be made available.  Don’t spend time digging in your bag when you could be spending time in an important discussion that could eventually lead to a sale.

Practice (purpose and benefit).

Ask yourself, what you intend to gain out of the meeting?

what do the prospects intend to take away from the meeting?

Have a specific purpose and benefit that everyone is hoping to receive and confirm if everyone is in agreement with the benefit and purpose before moving on through the agenda.

Review Meeting Attendance

Before attending any meeting research on those that would be attending the meeting. It will help you feel relaxed and free when relating with your prospects in a friendly manner. Relate with each person in the meeting like you know them.  Google the prospects or check their LinkedIn pages.
